Whenever I talk about my perfect garden with several of my friends we always come to the topic of what are the best plants that you can have in your garden. Since I have been doing gardening and home improvement for years, I can share with you the experience that has taught me that having a garden is a multi-functional option that should stay diverse as much as possible.

What I mean by this is that once you finish your teenage years of going out to the city and partying, and you have decided you want to invest some time in your home, with maybe growing a garden for yourself, you will notice that several things make a perfect garden.

To be perfectly honest I also started with my perfect garden filled only with flowers. So many flowers, all different and the more colorful the better, I thought. However, ill share with you a little wisdom that my old age has taught me. While I do appreciate a garden filled with flowers, it is not the only thing your garden should have. A garden is like a canvas, you can do with it what you want.

However, painting just one apple won’t be the best picture in the world. It’s the same for your garden, if you only have one type of plants in your garden you will miss out on so much more that nature has to offer.

The worst part is you will actually miss out on things that you might need at certain times.

A perfect garden, in my honest opinion, should have some vegetables growing at a certain section, and even if potted, there should be some herbs growing. Herbs bring out a nice fragrance in the garden that normal flowers can’t. They have a nice “spice” in the way they smell, but they also bring their edible properties to the table when you decide to make lunch.

Believe me, there is nothing more satisfying than making lunch spiced up with the herbs that you have grown in your garden. Top that with a fresh salad that was also made in your garden and you have the holy trinity. Have your garden divided into sections and make each section shine with its unique feel. Don’t limit your garden to just one plant, make it grow fully with everything that you might need in your day-to-day life and you will respect your garden a lot more and come to enjoy the gardening experience far better.
