Tea with Friends and a New Photography App

Thanks for the wishes of a speedy recovery to my husband following his knee replacement surgery last week. He's doing well and reads my blog and comments, so felt pretty special.
Not long ago I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of fellow bloggers for a Victorian Afternoon Tea and we had delicious fare and good conversation.
Margie on the left (Tea in the Valley) Sandra at the back (Ravenhill Cottage) and myself.
The first 2 tiered plate stand held sandwiches and crudities while the second had scones, shortbread, empire cookies and fern tarts.
Finally this week I saw monarchs flitting around the butterfly bushes in the butterfly garden so I grabbed my phone to capture one, at least. The original photo is on the left and a Waterlogue painting on the right. Waterlogue is a free app for phones and iPads, great for playing around with your photos.
I've just downloaded Prisma for the phone and iPad as well and now more fun begins! A friend was posting various colour combos of flowers she photographed on her FB page and I was hooked - and it's free!
I hope a few of you will try this app too and see what you can create.

  7. Oh Judith, your Victorian Afternoon Tea looks gorgeous and I'm sure you had wonderful time together!
I have always loved you Waterlogue "paintings" and the Prisma images look very beautiful too. It would be difficult to pick a favourite, but perhaps the watercolour is the most special.
Wishing you a happy and healthy weekend! ♥

  8. What a pleasant setting for time with friends. We've had a monarch flitting around here this week as well. Not sure where they were when the milkweed bloomed.

  10. I can't believe that I have missed so many of your posts. I am especially glad that your husband is recovering. My friend is having quite a struggle with her shoulder replacement which replaced the first replacement. She fell on the shoulder after the first replacement, so 3 years later she has had it redone. Tell your husband to stay upright! It is disappointing and annoying to fall through some cracks, but then others having lasting consequences and are quite painful in other ways. I have used Waterlogue and it is such fun. I have a photo of a long horned cow that I took at my bother's place. I used waterlogue on it and love it. Next I am going to take the color out of it, shrink it down to a mini and use it in my next dollhouse which will be a modern farmhouse. I'lll have to explore Primsa. The watercolored photos make such beautiful greeting cards, too. Is your garden fading? Ours is, and I am not too unhappy about it either. Have a pleasant weekend, Judith.

  11. I'm so glad that your dear darling is doing so well, Judith. I saw the picture of you three lovely ladies on Margie's blog and I was soooo wishing that I was there joining in on the tea party. Your new app must be a lot of fun to change up your pictures. I should give it a try!

  15. How beautiful, Judith, and what a nice way to spend an afternoon! Was this your first time to meet these two bloggers?

I'm very glad to hear that your husband is doing well -- that's always a relief, isn't it? Best wishes to him for his continued recovery. I like what you've done with your pictures. I've wanted to get Waterlogue for some time now, but I don't have an iPhone -- GASP!! It's hard to believe, but I still have my flip phone, which I find so easy to use. I'm sure I'll have to join the rest of Planet Earth and covert soon, though. ;) Thanks for sharing, Judith, and have a great day!

    Hugs,

I have seen the waterlogged but haven't gotten around to getting it. It's hot here...hope it is not too unbearable there! Have a great weekend.

Playing with photos is so much fun! I don't have Waterlogue, but there's a watercolour option in my photo editing program.

  19. Seeing our delicious afternoon tea again is making me hungry. Hehehe! I'm very impressed by the high-quality photos captured on your camera phone. I never got to try out the Waterlogue app because I don't have an iPad or iPhone, but the Prisma app is available for Android devices. Yay!

  20. Dear, Darling Judith,
I'm so overjoyed by finding my self here again !

After this period of 'interlude' which I had to allow myself due to work reasons - the Short Lets I manage here at Tenuta Geremia, the speech about the Empress of Austria I had to prepare and to perform at the conference which was held last Saturday at Madonna di Campiglio, in our Dolomiti, some works of restoration here and the family to join and follow took me far from the pc for more than a month and a half - I'm so glad to enjoy your Blog again, I've been missing you so much, sweet friend !

Hope you're enjoing your day, and happy to read that your husband is recovering and getting better more and more I'm sending my dearest love to you, with utmost gratitude for the posts you always share

    Xx Dany

  32. Haven't you been having fun playing with the new apps? What fabulous images you've created thanks for bringing them to show us @ MM this week. The afternoon tea table looked very appetizing.
On Saturday I'll be hosting an 80th birthday tea party with an Alice in Wonderland theme for my step mother at Davenport's tea room in Cheshire which has been voted the best tea room in the U.K. I hope to share it on MM next week.
Glad to hear your husband is recovering well from the surgery, best wishes from Normandy.

  35. Hi Judith,
I didn't know your hubby had knee surgery as I was away from the computer last week. I'm glad to hear he is doing well! Please give him my best best.
What fun to meet up with Margie and Sandra! I guess the bigger the population, the more chances you have of meeting up with blogger friends. I have only the one here on the Island, Carolyn at Aiken House and Gardens and I have known her for years. The Apps sound fun but I don't have a phone or an iPad. Yes, I know! No phone? Honestly, I don't get out much so I don't really need one. Your butterfly is lovely. Have a wonderful week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

    Have a great week.

  45. Nice work. I admired Prisma on another blog but I haven't been able to download it successfully. My password was incorrect so I had to redo it but then they said the one I chose was too much like my old one. I had just forgotten to use an upper case letter before... hate all those password rules; I cannot possibly remember them.
