My Creative Side

We finally got rain this week, enough to top up the three rain barrels and it perked up the gardens.
Light and dark pink carpet roses line the front walkway with lavender between them. In the background is lady's mantle providing a frilly skirt to a 'New Dawn' rose climbing up a gated arbour.
Clematis 'The President' is on an arbour entering the backyard.
Stephanie at The Enchanting Rose created a shabby US flag on a wooden hanger that I liked and I wondered if I could come up with something for our Canadian flag. I don't sew or usually have much wide ribbon on hand but a trip to Michael's and I've done a better interpretation than when I first posted my effort.
I've been attending classes at our library to sample various crafts and the plastic keychain was made with Inkscape software. What a coincidence that they had piece of purple plastic available.
Also tried my hand at a leather bracelet for granddaughter Mia, who like her grandmother loves butterflies.
I have a craft studio in an unfinished portion of our basement where I make cards but I usually forget to take photos of them before they're slipped in an envelope and mailed.  Here's a couple I just finished.
If you are a crafter, joining the annual 'Where Bloggers Create' link up party at My Desert Cottage is a great way to meet others with the same interests. Even if you don't participate, and I haven't decided if I will this year, it is awe inspiring to see the craft studios and talent of fellow bloggers. (the link button is on my sidebar) The party is hosted by Karen Valentine (Valentine Designs) who designs my blog.
Linking to Amy's Five on Friday.

  5. The lady's mantle is really pretty, Judith! I'd like to have some; had some at one time but it didn't survive - is yours growing in part sun? I believe I planted mine in full sun and I suspect that was too much for it. I love your keychain, bracelet, and cards, Judith. You are a creative person. :)
    Hugs, Beth

  6. What a nice idea to have a way to try out some crafts before investing in a lot and finding it's not your thing. I like the things you did.

  7. I like that idea for a flag on a hanger. I'll have to put my thinking cap on for that one. It would be a cute craft for the grandkids to work on this summer. I think my main lavender plant has given up, as only parts of it are growing and blooming. I need to look into taking some cuttings from it. Enjoy the weekend.

  22. Your crafts are amazing - I have been blessed numerous times with your incredible greeting cards - always a heart-skipping thrill to see one in the mail box! ♥

Your new plastic and leather work is really good - not easy to do at all!

Glad you got some rain - keep that color going - so lovely!

I didn't realize there is such a thing as "carpet roses." I think that I need to find some - I have only greens and mulched emptiness. I really am not happy with the garden and keep saying "this year" then the following year I say "this year." I have been doing that for entirely too long now! Shame on me!!!! Wish you lived near - I so could use your wise advice. I keep making garden mistakes - and the deer and rabbits take care of the rest of the potential. *Sigh*

Big hugs! Hope you had an enjoyable Canada Day weekend - love your copycat craft with your flag colors, too! : - )

Have a blessed Sunday! Love and hugs!
