Celebrations

Recently we went to the quaint Globe Restaurant in Rosemont to celebrate my hubby's birthday.  Friend Ruth who is 95 was treating for lunch and our mutual friend Trudy joined us.
The goblets of water on the table had cranberries and orange segments for flavour and as you can see, presentation is important here. Bottom right is the warm gingerbread with rhubarb compote that I had for dessert.
I faced the fireplace with an elaborate autumn display on the mantel and noticed I could see it as well in the mirror on the wall.
Fellow Canadian Jen who blogs at The Light Laughed has realized a dream and published the first issue of her on-line magazine Rural. Rather than just give the link to the magazine I invite you to read Jen's post with her own introduction and a link to sign up for subsequent issues.
Congratulations Jen, the layout and photos are very appealing and I wish you success with this project. Please help her celebrate and share Rural with your friends.

  15. Sending happy birthday wishes to your hubby! The birthday meal looks so scrumptious that I visited the Globe's website to learn more about the restaurant. Alas, the location is too far from me, but I can drool from afar. Have you ever had The Globe's afternoon tea?

Now I'm off to check out the Rural magazine!

  20. Happy belated birthday to your husband, Judith! Your lunch looked delicious. I like gingerbread. I think the best I ever ate came from a small store that was located right next to Peggy's Cove lighthouse in Nova Scotia. It was still warm from the oven and very dense and flavorful. They served it with freshly made whipped cream. Heavenly! I looked at Rural on my cell phone through facebook, but now I will enjoy it on my laptop.

  22. Oh Judith, I meant to read this one and it slipped past me until this morning. I love your friends magazine tagline, It is how you live, not where. That might give rise to a blog post for me as I continue to try and convince my more conventional friends that a house in Greece doesn't mean I've moved to the moon! ;-). Thanks!
