Mosaic Monday #45 - Birds of the Hood

Oh That I Had Wings
The bird let loose in eastern skies,
returning  fondly home.
Ne’er stoops to earth her wing, nor flies
where idle warblers roam.
But high she shoots through air and light,
above all low delay,
Where nothing earthly bounds her flight,
nor shadow dims her way.
~Charles Lamb~

A few of the birds that visit our backyard.
The above collages were made using the free software from Fotor. I ♥️mosaics!
A simple trio made in PicMonkey.
A pair of swans with their cygnets captured at a private residence but the metal grate takes away from the grace of the birds.
A little magic created with piZap and a watermark to disguise the grate... much nicer, don't you think?

  2. Dear Judith!
Lovely bird mosaics you are showing.
As our house and garden is near by a forest a lot of different kinds of birds are visiting our garden.
It is interesting to see what they are doing when they are visiting us.
    Happy week1
    Best wishes,

Thank you for hosting and have a great week!
PS I prefer the traditional order, the first entries at the top, but perhaps I'm just so reactionary. :)

  11. Hi Judith - I'm always so impressed with your Mosaics. LOVE the Swans. I might have to try "Fotor" sometime. I tend to use PicMonkey a lot because it's so easy.

  13. Hi Judith, you have such a diverse collection of birds in your area. Some I am familiar with, and a few are new to me, I love them all. And the swans...sigh, oh the swans! Gorgeous.

I rather like the way you have changed up the lineup, it's nice to see everyone that links in get a chance to be featured. And thanks so much for hosting!

  15. Hi Judith! I am SO far behind in blog reading since I returned from Washington, D.C., England, and Ashville, N.C. [the Biltmore]. I'm trying to get caught up today, and decided to attempt a mosaic to join your Mosaic Monday. I LOVE your new blog design. It's the first time I've seen it [so that tells you how behind I am] and it's absolutely beautiful! My mosaic is of the first four teas in London, but there's more that aren't included. It was a FABULOUS trip which I enjoyed with my daughter. I've been posting each day chronologically on my blog. Hope all has been well with you and your family. Hugs, ~ Phyllis

  16. These are beautiful mosaics of your local birds. The swan photos are both beautiful and it's neat to see the 'magic' of editing in the second one. I hope you have a wonderful week Judith.

  27. I really like the way the Fotor collages came out, Judith! I keep meaning to try it. You are fortunate to get so many beautiful bird visitors to your backyard. I had a birdfeeder but had to remove it as the many squirrels here were very aggressive abd ate all the seed within hours. I ahve no luck with the wild animals here eating everything they should not.

PS: My second granddaughter was born this morning! Two hour labor and all went well--will be putting photos and info up on facebook later in the day when we see her.

  28. Great use of Fotor. Isn't it fun? And the watermark took care of that obstacle.

  29. Hi Judith, I recognize all of your birds from seeing them in my own yard, except one - the one in the first photo on the shepherd's hook - on the right of the mosaic. Do you know what kind it is? Our orioles are not visiting as often this year as last; I think someone else close by must have the grape jelly out as well. We do see finches, sparrows, and catbirds in the grape jelly as well. Have a good week!
    Hugs, Beth

  31. Hi Judith! Oh what lovely mosaics! Funny thing happened when I added my link just now...instead of my post being at the end of the line, it showed up as first! How did that happen, I wonder? Anyway, your mosaics of these backyard birds is so very creative and beautiful! Thanks so much for hosting!

  38. I love seeing the birds in your area. Beautiful orioles!! I would love to have such colour in my yard. I saw an indigo bunting in the wooded area beside my dad's retirement home last time I was there. I was thrilled to see him ... so pretty! Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me. Have a great week Judith.

  39. I always like to see what birds visit others' gardens. We have similiar birds to yours. We saw for the first time last week an orchard oriel for the first time. Very exciting. We will probably never see a northern cardinal here. Mostly now we have grackles and red winged blackbirds that hog the food. We always had blue jays, but this year none. Then there are birds that we hear but never seem to see. I enjoyed your variety of mosaics.

  41. As the tail end charlie I'm loving the last entries at the top! You are clever obscuring the metal grate and the design of the first mosaic with the bird coming out of the centre of the love heart - love it, you know I have a soft spot for the little birds! Have a lovely week Judith!

  47. Beautiful, sweet birds and yes we do love mosaics ;) I do like what you did to hide that grate. So often with birds of prey, you get utility wires and such and I want to make them go away too. Thank you~
