Personal Photo Challenge for July - Portraits

With Donna's challenge for this month on portraits, one photo came to mind right away.
I like to use mirrors to reflect other parts of a room, plants around a garden or in this case to feature granddaughter Emma's braids as well as the look of sheer satisfaction on her face. The contrast and saturation were tweaked a bit since it was bright in the washroom. ISO 320 f/2.7
An older photo of our dog Topaz kissing granddaughter Mia, who at her age then was savouring the moment. I doubt we'd capture the same scenario today. The contrast was darkened to compensate for the sunny window nearby.
Both photos were taken with a point and shoot camera.
Come join the fun of the monthly personal photo challenge (1-3 photos) hosted by Donna at Cottage Days and Journeys.

My grandies love the hair braiding too - Emma's must have taken ages to do.
The shot of Mia and Topaz must be one of the sweetest I've seen - shared love!

  5. Aw, these are really sweet photos of your granddaughters, Judith. I believe the one in the top photo has your smile. ;) Maybe Mia does too when she's not kissing the dog. :-)

  6. Those are super special photos. The mirror is inspired as you get a nearly 360°...darling. Mia didn't even say that she'd been slimed? Funny and cute!

  19. The things we do as kids....those braids look great...but to me they would seem painful...lol...but kids don't see things that way I guess!

    Excellent shots!

  22. Love the doggie kisses! You're right: she probably wouldn't relish them quite as much these days. The mirror shot is interesting. Although I've gotten some nice reflections by accident, I've not tried using them on purpose. I'll have to give it a shot! Thanks for the idea.
