A Golden Tea in the Garden

Welcome friends for tea this week. Peonies are my favourite early summer flower and although everything is late this year, I was able to gather enough blossoms to fill a few jars in the house.
The ones that are the show stoppers in the garden though are the Itoh variety and I have two yellows, 'Bartzella' and 'Sequestered Sunshine'.
Come join me for a golden garden tea where I've set up a small table in front of 'Bartzella'.
My teacup is from Bavaria Germany and has flowers on the outside as well as the inside of the cup.
I like the butterfly crackers from Pepperidge Farm for a treat with tea sometimes.
There are loads of blooms on the peonies and I look forward to their fragrance throughout the house.
Just a few open so far with their reflections in the glass panel on the deck.
It was pouring rain this morning so I wasn't sure I could even set up tea in the garden but it has cleared for awhile with more rain expected this afternoon.
Thank you for joining me and I hope you'll visit my hosts and their guests.

  3. Those peonies are beautiful. No such luck here this year or last. I keep hoping they will have another good year but not recently. I sure do like that lovely teacup and saucer.

  4. Love peonies, Judith, but unfortunately I don't have any. Your yellow peonies are just gorgeous and are perfect to showcase your pretty teacup. Thank you for sharing and I hope you enjoy some sun soon. Our weekend has been cold and rainy. The sun is finally starting to peek through the clouds but it is still only 12 degrees.

    Blessings,

  5. Peonies are so gorgeous. They don't last very long in the garden, though. Ours have just ended. Love that teacup - such a pretty colour.

  8. Loved seeing your beautiful peonies! A very artful display with the peonies in mason jars and those still on the bush.

I had three. Only three. Sigh. I've been picking lily beetles from my bolero lilies. Oh the carnage! I now have a little jar filled with soapy water and red dots.

  15. Beautiful peonies! I only have pink ones, wish I had room for more! Mine are in tight bud yet, but we had our first hot day, so hopefully it won't be long! Love your teacup, so pretty with the yellow peony. Those butterfly crackers are cute! I cut them in half and set them at a angle on a single serving of chicken salad.

  19. Oh, I do love your peonies! I love it that you are still having spring, because everything is already so hot and humid where I live. (Plus, the deer have eaten all but one of my hostas and most of the roses. Sigh ...)

  22. This year seems to be a stellar year for peonies here. I have six that have struggled. But they have been grand this year. Last year we had a very cold and snowy April that ruined all of the early bloomers. I love the peonies. I think I née to add a yellow. Tea in your garden is always grand.

  23. Just beautiful Judith!
I'm so envious as we can't grow peonies where I live, I think they probably need very cold winters.
They do grow down in the south but are very expensive to buy at the florist - only for very special occasions!

  24. Hi Judith,

You know I don't believe I have ever seen yellow peonies - only light pink, dark/bright pink and white. I have seen a few white with bits of pink, too. I love your yellows!

I am so glad the rain stopped long enough for you to enjoy your teatime outdoors.

We are supposed to get nasty storms the rest of the week.

  28. The teacup is so pretty and goes well with the yellow blooms. Peonies are so beautiful and smell so pretty. I intended to buy one this year or get a clump from someone but didn't do so. I hope you were out of harms way with some of the wild storms there today. Crazy weather!
