A Gardener's Tea Party

Welcome friends for tea this week. I hope everyone had a nice mother's day. At church the Pastor gave each mother a scroll containing the tribute he read to us and we received a long stemmed carnation. Later in the afternoon hubby put the top down on the corvette and we went for a drive and ice-cream. The weather was warm and a perfect day all around.
On Saturday, I picked up my 93 year old friend Ruth and took her to a Gardener's Tea Party, hosted by the garden club of a couple of friends and fellow bloggers. There was a fashion show of clothing from the 20s which we all enjoyed. The menu included four kinds of sandwiches, tiny scones and an assortment of squares and little cakes. Two large pots of black tea were on each table and the ladies came around with rooibos for those who preferred it.
I poured for our side of the table from this pretty blue and white teapot.
Friend Val, seen in the upper right greeted us as we arrived and friend Jen, upper left was a model wearing a gorgeous burgundy velvet ensemble, including the shoes. The bridal couple were in fashionable wedding dress for the 20s.
The ladies had fun showing off their costumes from this era, particularly the sassy gal in the flapper attire.

This sounds like a lot of girly fun! I love fancy teas and dress up parties! and, lucky you, to go riding around in a convertible! I saw my first hummingbird yesterday, so hopefully they're on their way to your area very soon.

What a fun weekend you had Judith. The drive in a Corvette convertible for ice cream would be very enjoyable and the 20's tea would have been so much fun to see.

You had SUCH a fun weekend. It looks like it was wonderful. There's nothing like a pretty tea pot to make the tea taste all that much better.

What a fun tea! I love vintage fashion shows. The blue transferware teapot on your table is so pretty. It looks like Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles. Sounds like you had a lovely Mother's Day too! ~ Phyllis

Ooooo - this is my kind of teatime! Love the menu and the whole idea with the vintage clothes fashion show. Were they originals or reproduction outfits? Some of the pieces I have are very fragile and not wearable from that era. I do have one lace overlay that is in wearable condition that I just love and have worn on a few occasions. The teapot in blue and white is pretty - I'm getting ready to get all my blues out for the summer season soon upon us. It was 88 degrees today! Maybe here sooner than I thought!
Joy!

What fun! LOVE the 20's clothing! Don't know if you went back and checked my blog or not...I left you an answer to your comment about my camera and lenses. I use the Canon 40D with a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 (it's the white lens), with a Canon 2x Extender to get it out to 400 mm.
