Welcome Spring

Welcome spring, you have brought the robins back that are eating the fading apples.
They have been joined by a multitude of squirrels in black, grey and red.
At the front of the house where some snow has finally melted, tulips are beginning to show themselves, and they make me happy.
In the basement a pot stacked in a corner suddenly came to life as a forgotten hyacinth from last spring sent out a green shoot.  It has been joined by two others.
Welcome spring, I'm ready for you after the cold wintry days of this past winter.
I will be linking with Mosaic Monday.

  13. Ah, love your photos today! Spring's having a hard time showing up around here too. It was 27 degrees this morning, but is supposed to get up to 55 today. It's sunny, and that helps.

  17. Glorious signs of spring and lovely photos of them too.

I can report seeing two Canada Geese the other day, and a chipmunk out of hibernation this morning. We got some fresh snow yesterday, so I was surprized to see the chipmunk out, but it was having a snack of bird seeds from under our feeder.

    Cheers.

  22. What a beautiful shot of the robin! They're such a common bird, but to see them first in springtime really does gladden the heart. We've got our red-winged blackbirds screeching in our yard now too, and THAT too me is the best sound of spring :) Wendy x

  23. Great wildlife photos! And how lovely to have a hyacinth surprise. I am curious about your squirrels, though. We have lots of big, burly grey squirrels here, and the occasional nervous little red squirrel, and chipmunks (which my Midwestern husband persists in calling 'ground squirrels'), who delight in teasing my dogs when we go for walks. I have only ever seen black squirrels in one place, and it took some getting used to. It was in Urbana, Illinois, and I think they were fairly unique to that area. Do you have them in Toronto, too?

  24. Oh! I just looked up info on black squirrels. I should have done that before leaving the above comment. Wikipedia says they are common in Midwestern states, Ontario, and Quebec. They are a "subvariant" of the Eastern Grey Squirrel. Learn something new every day!

  25. It's so lovely to see the first signs of spring. Yes, wildlife - we love them and "hate" them when they do damage to property and eat our plants. Hard to prevent so mostly we just have to live with it.
    Have a good week!

  29. Happy , happy SPRING ! I watched 2 robins courting at our bird bath tonight before sunset, what a delight. It was warm enough to sit on the porch for awhile without a sweater , so I know spring has finally arrived.

    Your photographs are wonderful.
