Talk and Tea

Welcome friends for tea this week.  I'm back home in the snow belt, relaxed and refreshed while eagerly awaiting spring like everyone else.
I have one last tea table to share from the balcony of the condo where we stayed.  I brought my silver Paderno tea pot with infuser along for afternoon tea.
I had picked up cute paper plates with cupcakes in the centre for our Valentine tea when the family was down and continued to use them myself.  The huge shortbread on the plate was from Panera Bread.
One day during the family visit we went to Universal Studios and our grandson Sam volunteered to work with some animals.  The dog was trained to bring an item of clothing Sam asked for but instead of a hat, it came running to him with a woman's bra.  (just a tad embarrassing !) Various birds flew to Sam but when a turkey vulture came winging overhead, just missing him, the look on his face as he ran back to mom was priceless!  What a good sport he was though.

On our way to Florida, I had the privilege of meeting Linda from Friendship Tea in Kentucky and on the way back, Phyllis from The Relevant Tea Leaf and her husband Jerry in Michigan were kind enough to invite my hubby and I for a high tea supper.  It was a pleasure to see all the tea collections and memorabilia in Phyllis's home and the table she set in blue and white was simply charming.  Phyllis's post is here if you want to see the table.
Phyllis is a good cook and baked a decadent chocolate mound cake for dessert.  Thank you so much for inviting us, and your hospitality, Phyllis and Jerry.
As you'll see on Phyllis's post, we took a hostess gift but I certainly didn't expect to receive a gift in return.  In a box wrapped in lavender I pulled out a hand towel with an embroidered wheelbarrow filled with colourful blooms and a fairy in a lavender dress.  This little girl will be perfect for the fairy garden I'm making to accompany a presentation I'm giving on fairy gardens.
If you're not familiar with either of these ladies or their blogs and you're a tea granny like me, I invite you to pop over for a visit, tell them I sent you!

  10. Hello Judith. Glad to see you are still blogging. I'm trying to fire mine up again (not that my garden isn't covered in snow here in the northeast), but am having a hard time getting my photos on. I seem to need some retraining.

Hope all is well with you,

  21. I hope you will share your fairy garden talk with us! I am just now hearing about these, and would love to create one myself. I am sure it has been a little bit of a shock to come from FL to the still wintry north. We still have lots of snow here, but I hear more birds chirping and the days are getting longer! So nice you got to meet some blogging friends.

  25. I sure enjoyed reading about your trip and the tea friends you got to meet up with along the way! Looks like Phyllis found the perfect gifts for you as well. Don't know if you have Hobby Lobby in Canada, but I visited one recently and found there is a huge section of items for fairy gardens. I didn't realize they had become THAT popular -- wow!

How fun that the little one got to be involved with the animals. We have always skipped that show and finally went last year and absolutely loved it. The birds were amazing.

  33. Catching up and really enjoyed scrolling through your Florida vacation -- you had a wonderful time! What fun to get away from the snow (of course that's what everybody here is doing, for varying lengths of time!). And how neat that your family was able to join you two for part of the time.

Lovely you got to meet some blog friends too. A perfect time away. Hope you soon get some spring weather 'up north' (as we say here).

  34. You have a little star in the making Judith. He wasn't embarrassed being in front of people.
You looked rested and relaxed from your holiday.
Good to see some blog friends in person. You are lucky to have that chance. And your little gift is so pretty with the wheelbarrow.

Hope you have a good weekend.

  35. You take your own tea pot on vacation?! I've been known to take along my favourite tea, but I never thought to pack the pot as well ;) The shot of your tea table above the water looks so relaxing ... I want to transport myself there! What a good sport of your grandson, poor kid to suffer the embarrassment of the bra though! How very nice to meet some of your tea granny friends on your trek home. Love the little embroidered linen. Have a great weekend Judith. Wendy x

  36. Good Morning Judith, I think that it is wonderful that you were able to stop and meet some of your blogging sisters along your journey and how lovely to have evening tea with them. I had to laugh when I read the story of your grandson. I would be running to my Mommy too, if I had a turkey vulture come winging over my head. How scarey!
Now, off to visit your friend's blogs.
    Have a lovely day.
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)
