From the Balcony

I have been watching seabirds and boats in the inlet from our balcony.
Two or three times a day an osprey takes fish to the roof of this condo to eat.  The photos aren't too clear as it's a couple of buildings away.  Sometimes you can hear it coming, sounding the whole time it's flying - maybe telling all the seagulls to back off?
Judging by the heads peering over the edge, the spoils must be shared.  An osprey nest we've been watching evolve is on top of a light at the mini golf across the street.
One afternoon I heard a loud squawking below the balcony that sounded like a chicken.  Turns out it was a green heron, and a lifer for me!
Dolphins swim up the inlet every so often for some of the bountiful fish, but it's cormorants that are diving for them daily.
Sometimes a splash can be heard from below and when we look, there's nothing in sight.  Well, this morning we figured out what it was as we watched a fish leap frog across the water.
As the sun sets at the end of the day, the buildings across the water are illuminated.
I hope you've enjoyed as much as we have, what we see from the balcony.

  6. I am enjoying seeing the scenes from your balcony! WOW YOU GOT A GREAT SHOT OF THE DOLPHIN!! They are so hard to capture, we see them all the time here as well, but they are so hard to photograph as they move so quickly! I have gotten lucky just a scant few times, LOL
