Around the Campfire

I haven't posted for almost a week!  The weather has been too nice to be inside and on Saturday we joined our youngest daughter and family at their campsite for the day.
We were at Sibbald Point Provincial Park on Lake Simcoe to sit around a fire, relax and eat.  At night, our granddaughter read us a ghost story while we made s'mores and didn't worry about calories.
Grandpa and his helper making the fire.
Lots to see on a walk to the lake.
We live on the opposite side of this lake and the trip to the park took just over an hour.
My husband hamming it up with a tree that was rotten and fell over after he brushed past it.  Grandson Sam hoping Topaz won't get any of his chips.  The burger man, our s-i-l at the BBQ cooking dinner, and Mia learning to use her mom's Canon camera.
I camped in this same park back in the 60's with my parents but we only had a tent and slept on the ground.  Today, our family does glamping, (glamour camping) which isn't hard to take when one has a large trailer that is a mini home with all the same comforts. I loved it!
I'm linking with Mary at Mosaic Monday.

  7. Judith,

Your photos of your autumn adventure bring back memories of my camping days at Jackson's Point! I can still smell that distinct scent that forests take on when near a lake; so fresh!

    Lovely photos, thanks for sharing!

  9. An autumn camping trip is perfect before the cold weather sets in. You had lovely skies and temps by the looks of it. What fun to share outdoor experiences with your family. Your granddaughter looks like quite the expert photographer!

  12. ha ha I saw your title and then you said "I haven't posted for a week' and the first thought that crossed my mind was that "she's satiated with smores and hotdogs " and next you see...smores. YUM / sounds like fun ( and I mean that GLAMPING sounds fun not the old way :)

With her interest in photography, perhaps the little one is a budding blogger.

  14. Oh, Judith- what fun.

I adore camping and we just don't seem to do it anymore.

We have no camper but we have all the supplies.

I think fall camping is so nice because there are fewer bugs and no humid heat - I love a camp fire when there is a nip in the air!

  18. That would be my idea of camping too. This week my husband and I have been watching the Mountainmen of the History Channel. I really admire these people who live off the land and I find it fascinating.
I really enjoyed your family adventure!

  19. o, Judith, this looks like such fun.
I love camping and we did a lot of it when our kids were little..tents and sleeping bags. But, when the grands came along, our camping was in a cute, little, comfy camper. Loved it, too. :))
