Tea and Nascars

When I go to babysit the grands they always know we'll be having a tea party.  Last week while taking care of the two youngest, the day we decided to have our party my 9 year old granddaughter went out with her friend to the show which left the 6 year old grandson and I.  He was OK with that and when his friend from next door came over to play, he was asked to join us too and was game for a new experience.
I got out my daughter's new china, the teapot from a great aunt and a banana peach tea loaf my daughter baked.
The boys ate quickly, took a couple of sips of tea, then asked if they could leave the party to play Nascars.
It wasn't what I had envisioned for our afternoon tea but I got to relax and drink mine while watching them play with the cars.  It was also funny watching them pose and ham it up for the photos I took.

  8. It is going to take many tea parties to civilize them! I am still working on John and haven't yet begun with the grandsons. =D Good for you for following through. I am sure that the boys will remember your efforts fondly and be willing to do it again one day soon.

    Boys need teatime too, yes?

Well, as long as it doesn't interfere with Nascar playing! Ha!

  20. Oh, how fun to see these cuties enjoying tea -- boy style!

I once hosted a NASCAR-themed tea, by the way, for some guy friends who challenged me to do it. They had "Earl" tea, red shop cloths as napkins, round auto clamps as napkin rings, etc. It was actually fun to put together!
