A Touch of Pink

Welcome friends for tea this week.  On our July 1 Canada Day long weekend DH and I went to the Promenade Days in the city north of us to wander around the vendors and had lunch in an Irish Pub.  It turns out there is a tea room there called "English & Miller" that I didn't know about but I did buy something from their booth and plan to go for tea another time.
The tube itself is kind of pretty and a good storage place for the cutlery it holds.
Durable with stainless steel heads the "Vintage Rose" is even dishwasher safe.  There were a few other colours too but the pink was calling to me.
We were having company for dinner a couple of days later so I decided to go with a touch of pink on the table.  The tablecloth you see is from Lennox, the same as my dishes in the "Butterfly Meadow" pattern.
Some pink chargers from Michael's and the pink wineglasses I've had for years completed what I had in mind.
I wasn't going to photograph everything we ate but did remember to snap the dessert I made.  Meringue nests filled with custard and topped with fresh picked strawberries.  A dollop of whip cream and I decided to stick a cookie in the back of each.  The nests are a PC product I've been wanting to try and they were very nice.
Of course we had tea with our dessert and it was served in my Lavender Rose tea pot which you've all seen before so no need to show it again.

  1. I have the same tablecloth! I haven't seen those meringue nests so will watch for them..they would be handy to have on hand in case company arrives, like last Friday , when I didn't have any baking done...(blushing here!)

  3. Oh I absolutely adore that beautiful summertime tablescape, Judith!

What a wonderful inspiration - those pink flatware pieces were a great find! I have never seen pink before! I would have snatched them right up, too.

Your dessert looks so yummy - what a great presentation! Glad you remembered to snap that shot!

Can't wait till you can go back for tea there and share that visit with us, too.

  4. Hi Judith,
I was thinking of you again today as I was setting up my Violet and Pansy Tea and especially when I cut some Lavender and put ribbons on it. Your lovely pink table setting is so inviting - I wish I could sit down at your pretty table. Your visitors are very lucky friends! I think I have the same china cabinet as you in my dining room. I changed the table though when I inherited my mother's.
    Thank you for sharing!
    Take care,
    Karen

  11. Hi Judith,
What a beautiful table setting you have for your dinner guests! I'm sure they enjoyed it very much! Love your new pink silverware, butterfly dishes and tablecloth. So perfect for summer! Your dessert looks so yummy. The meringue nests are so cute! Stores around here don't sell anything fancy for tea's. I need to try making them myself!

  18. What a charming table setting, and I just love-love-love your new pink flatware! Meringues must really be popular right now. Got the new House Beautiful magazine yesterday, and it has a dessert that is sort of like a layer cake but made with giant layers of meringue. Like yours, it was beautiful!
