Freshening Up

One of the things I planned to do this year was to post more often, and then I came down with a bad cold.  I've spent more time in bed the last few days than I'd care to say, but sometimes our bodies dictate what is best for us.
During this time, I managed to take down the table top tree and the other few Christmas decorations, and how bare the front window is without the sparkle and twinkling lights!  Snowflakes and snowmen are still aplenty to keep the winter magic alive though.
Putting the knick knacks back in place, or just moving them around is part of the after-Christmas tasks women are in charge of.
I thought the reading fairy might like to sit on a tall table in better light beside the china cabinet in the dining room.
Found some frosty fruits in lavender (what else?) and changed them for the silver acorns that sat in the corner of the bathroom counter.
Rearranged this gift of a birch covered planter by removing the dying poinsettia and placed in some cardinals.  I took it from the living room to the kitchen by the large window facing east.
 Stopped for tea several times.
Managed to bake some cheese scones...
 blueberry cornbread tea loaf,
and tidied up the tea cabinet.  I turned the runners on the shelves over for a change of pattern.
While visiting blogging friend Beth, (and I'm linking you to see her new puppy) I saw she was giving a shout out for a new blog party on January 19th, hosted by 2 Bags Full called 'Grow Your Blog'.  It sounds like fun, and you can find the information here for the details and how to participate.

  1. Hi Judith and Happy New Year! I love the lavender frosted fruit. Lovely! Your scones look great, but I especially like your blueberry loaf! Yummy!

  2. Sorry you came down with a cold that put you out of commission for a while. Looks like you're on the mend now with all your yummy baking, and rearranging your lovely decorating accessories. At least your tree is down. Mine is still up and it's on my agenda to take it down and pack it away for another year. Blessings in 2013!

  6. Hope you're feeling better now. For us with the constant warm-cold and more warn-cold, it's brought sickness to lots of people too.

I know people always hate to take down Christmas decorations, but it's always nice to get back to normal. Happy New Year.

  13. Judith, sorry you were so sick. Yet amazing what you accomplished in spite of that. It is a good feeling to clean up and move things around after the holidays, giving the house a refreshed feeling. Your touches are so pretty. Feel better!

  17. Hi,Judith,
I feel it has been a long time to visit you. Your post is beautiful as always. I look forward to share with your lovely teatime in 2013.

My 2013 will start here after spending time with my extended family in our house and then visiting my mother in Tokyo.

  18. Hope you are feeling much better! Thinking of you. Life is pretty busy these days, not much time for the blog, but wanted to say "hi"!
