Niagara-on-the-lake

Thank you to all that wished my hubby Glenn (aka Mr. Lavender Cottage) a happy birthday.  We had fabulous weather while away except for some rain on the drive back home.
Stopping first at Niagara-on-the-lake, the flowers in front of shops and along the streets were still blooming and beautiful to see.
I didn't buy anything while strolling through the shops but did enjoy the unique boutiques such as the one above.
A real tourist attraction is the horse and buggy ride that can be taken around this scenic town.
Lunch was at the Irish Harp pub where the fare was hearty.
I decided to try the sampler of the pot pie and irish stew.  Delicious!
I'll save the photos from Niagara Falls for another post.

  1. Hello Judith,
Welcome back! I'm glad you enjoyed your litle break. The flowers look amazing for this time of year. You must have enjoyed the Butterfly Gallery! We have a horse and carriage here in Charlottetown too which is very popular with the tourists. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  2. Hi Judith, The flowers are beautiful, I'd love to take a carriage ride, and the food looks hearty and tasty. I'm so glad you had a good time. It is good to get away every now and then. I have never been to Niagra Falls, nor have I been to the Grand Canyon. I think I'm a travel-deprived American! ha ha ha (Not really.) But I do need to add these to my list. Retirement is great when you have time to pick up and get away! Ron isn't retired yet; looking forward to that day.

  3. Looks like you had beautiful weather and much there to enjoy! By the way, we live in a "cape cod" house which is why our upstairs is part attic, and the dormer windows.(re. your comment).

  4. Welcome home, Judith.
So glad you had a wonderful time. I think I told you last July we went to Niagara-on-the -lake with my daughter and family. We all had tea at the McFarland House. Its such a beautiful area and hope to go back some day.

  5. Did you take the carriage ride tour? I think they are the most fun and always try to take them when offered. The last one I took was in Boston.

Oh the flowers that are still going strong. I have three that are still going strong only because I'm hauling them in and out daily.

Looking forward to all the pictures you'd like to share. Hope that you had a fantastic time!

  6. Thank you so much for sharing photos of your recent visit to Niagara on the Lake. Such a wonderful place that I'd like to return to. I didn't take the carriage ride/tour when I was there before, so it's on my list for when I go back.

  7. Would LOVE to see Niagara-on-the-Lake in the summer or fall... I've only seen it in mid-February which was still beautiful but obviously snow covered!

  8. What a lovely post! I look forward to more photos. We have visited NOTL several times for the Shaw festival - two family members have had works there and I go whenever that happens. I've been a real tourist there and have enjoyed the carriage ride and many walks under the gorgeous trees as I gazed at the stately homes. I understand that the town is very pretty at Christmas.
