Honeymoon City

Niagara Falls is a common honeymoon destination for many newlyweds.  There's lots to see and do, especially at night when all the lights come on.
Before we left to spend a few days there, our youngest daughter had a 60th birthday dinner for her dad.
The cake had special meaning, as it had the flags from his corvette portrayed on top.
Yup, he bought his dream toy when he retired from the Toronto fire department.
The Canadian falls where many daredevils have gone over in a barrel.
The Maid of the Mist takes poncho covered tourists up close and personal to the falls.
The Niagara river as seen from one of the balcony's of our hotel room,
and the Rainbow bridge and falls from the other balcony.
We walked at night after dinner and both commented on how commercialized Niagara Falls has become since we visited as kids.  Tim Horton's and Starbucks seemed to be around every corner for a java fix.
Niagara Falls is certainly the place where your inner child can fulfill every fantasy.

  1. I haven't been there for many years. The falls are magnificent aren't they? Everything must have looked beautiful against a backdrop of fall foliage.

  2. Love the birthday cake! It must be fun touring around in your hubby's Vette. Great pics of the Falls area. It is an amazing sight! We went there in 1996 on vacation so it's probably changed a lot since then too. One of these years we'll get there again. Blessings, Pamela

  3. What great pictures. My hubby bought a corvette in 1979, but he only kept it a year and then sold it. Your daughter did a great job on her dad's b-day cake. Between family celebrations and your wonderful trip, your hubby's b-day was a very special time.

  4. Happy 60th Birthday to your man!!
What a way to celebrate - you must have so much fun in the wonderful car!

I've always wanted to see Niagara Falls - hopefully one day....
It is sad when it all gets so commercial - it happens here as well.

Have a very happy Sunday Judith!

  6. Oh I imagine that the surroundings are much changed. I haven't been for thirty-five years. As I recall, it wasn't as impressive as I had hoped until we went on the Maid of the Mist ride. That was neat!

What a great cake and a thoughtful daughter...bet that your husband really enjoyed the special meaning of it. How fun that he was able to purchase a Corvette at retirement!

  7. Good Morning, Judith
After a job as important as being a firefighter, your husband deserves his "toy". I'm glad you had a nice time in Niagara Falls. (My brother celebrated his 60th last month. Time does fly.)

  8. this is awesome! That cake is so cool, I love the car - that is a dream toy for sure. My mom got her "dream car" a Caddy when she retired, boy...did she work hard in her life for that. I remember being so happy for her that day when she called to tell me she finally got a "luxury car". She drove complete clunkers her entire life for the betterment of us kids. Glad you are having a great time.
