Fall Nesting Party

The Inspired Room is hosting a Fall Nesting Party for the 5th time this year.  I read about it from Vee at her blog 'A Haven for Vee' and thought how much fun this would be for my favourite time of year.
Each week has a theme and the first one on October 2 is '20 little things I love about fall'.
1.    The change in the weather to crisp, cool days.
2.    Brilliant autumn leaf colours.
3.    The earthy smell in the air of fallen leaves and fading flowers.
4.    A harvest of vegetables from the garden.
5.    Apple picking time.
6.    Apple pie.
7.    Fields of pumpkins, and displays at the local farms.
8.    Baked pumpkin treats.
9.    Fall asters in purple, pink and wine colours.
10. Goldenrod, wild and garden cultivars.
11. Birds flocking before they head south.
12. Gourds to decorate with.
13. Crimson coloured berries on native shrubs and trees.
14. Coneflower seedheads with goldfinches eating their fill.
15. Sunflowers.
16. Family gathering to celebrate Thanksgiving. (Oct. 8 in Canada this year)
17. Sitting by the fireplace with a good book on a chilly night.
18. Homemade soup, an autumn comfort food.
19. Collecting pinecones, seedpods and other gifts from nature for crafts.
20. Finding more time to blog since the garden won't require as much attention.
What do you love about fall?  Come join the party at The Inspired Room.

  2. What a wonderful list! Love it! I made vegetable soup today, too. It's perfect weather to have something simmering away on the stove for a couple of hours. Your apple pie looks delicious. Save a piece for me!

  3. I love the look of Fall gardens with all their bright and beautiful colors as the leaves all start through their changes. I love the return of the cool weather before it becomes too cold to bear.
