A Touch of Elegance

Welcome friends for tea this week.  I started the second session of my cupcake/cookie decorating classes and knew right away the first piece would be perfect for tea with a touch of elegance.
Isn't this pretty?  We covered a cupcake with fondant and made a gum paste butterfly.
White peonies are blooming in the garden, they are more fragrant than any pink ones I have.  I put a couple in a vase along with some lady's mantle flowers for the table in the tea house.
A simple white porcelain teacup seemed right for the occasion.
The dappled shade is always cozy here and if you look closely, you can see we've added a chandelier this year.
Nothing fancy, and it runs on batteries but adds ambience to my favourite spot for afternoon tea.
Here's another cupcake we constructed, wouldn't a batch of these be fun at a picnic!  The ant's body is made of chocolate covered almonds.
I'm joining Sandi at Rose Chintz Cottage, Ruth at Antiques and Teacups, Bernideen for Tea in the Garden and Kathy at A Delightsome Life.  Please visit my hosts and their guests for tea.

Thanks for sharing tea in your teahouse, it's always a pleasure! Love the new chandy, just the right amount of sparkle! Your cupcakes are both so fun, the first looks like it is wrapped in a pink satin ribbon, and of course the butterfly topper is so you :-)

  29. I love the butterfly – too cute to eat! And I'm jealous of your white peonies. I really must plant some. I guess I'm daunted because I know they may not bloom for a few years.

The chandelier is such a great idea. Maybe one near the hot tub, too?

  30. You are amazing as pastry chef. Hard to believe that you do not have it as a profession. Your first cupcake is like a little princess cake. Sweet and cute as a peony on the image below. White porcelain is perfect as a backdrop for the sweet pastry. Ants at the picnic is not always fun but, in your purple cupcake, it's great. I wish you a nice weekend! Zinnia

Your cakes are just so pretty and I always love looking at your lovely flowers. My mother grew white peonies. I sure wish I could grow them here. Maybe I'll try and grow them in a container. Have a lovely day.

  34. Your class is just fabulous. Wish I could take one with you. Everything you do is so creative. I want to try gum paste but haven't ever done it yet. Your new chandelier is wonderful. What a fun addition.

I love your white peonies. You mentioned that most of your pinks are dark. I need some dark. I thought I had a couple of them, maybe they are the ones that haven't done well this year. I love all colors of them.
