Opinion: (from the Oxford dictionary of current English)  personal view not necessarily based on fact or knowledge
We all have them, we like to share them, and we hope they are taken in the context that they are given.
A friend may ask another for their opinion and they expect to receive an honest opinion.  I believe all of us have been asked for our opinion at some time or other and try to be helpful with our answer.
With a group of people there will be more than one opinion and an open mind is best to hear what others have to say.

Public opinion is a weak tyrant, compared with our private opinion--what a man thinks of himself, that is which determines, or rather indicates his fate.    ~Henry David Thoreau~
I'm linking with Miss Jenny Matlock for Alphabe-Thursday, this week's letter is 'O'.  Please join us for some fun with words.

Good post, Judith! I hope I don't come off as "opinionated." I'm sure I must at times. Take care!
Blessings, Beth

Opinions, sometimes we are hesitant to express our opinions for fear of how they will be received. I do find the older (or is that more experienced) in life I get I am less hesitant to state my opinion as I'm not so worried about what others think.

I'm very opinionated. I just rarely share them publicly. Private thoughts that only come to the surface when I can't stay silent.

I try to keep most of my opinions to myself... but somehow they have a habit of escaping. :))

Hi Judith,
That's an interesting topic! Opinions; we all have them. Sometimes I am hesitant to express my opinion because I was raised to keep my opinions to myself. It's nice when I am asked because it makes me feel like what I think, matters!

I love your quote. I tend to be careful about sharing my opinion.

Sometimes I wish I could really give my honest opinion, ya know? If people don't want to know what I honestly think, then DON'T ASK ME!

great post! It's my opinion that sharing an opinion when asked for one is always fine. Some of us, though, are too quick to offer any opinion at any moment without the slightest thought of the impact on others. I'm all for opinions...I have plenty of my own...but I'm also all for restraint in sharing them.

Yes, I think we should value the opinions depending on who issued them. Greetings.

If we respect people, we respect the opinions of others!
But I'm seriously distracted by your super cute 8 year old cock-a-poo!

Good topic for AT.
I have been informed many times that I am opinionated, that remark usually comes from someone who disagrees with me!

I've found that when my friends ask for my "honest" opinion, typically they just want me to tell them that they are right....

What a great O word. Opnion, yes everybody asks for it sometimes.

I seem to have a lot of opinions, and I suspect I share them too often!

I think that opinions can sometimes be cruel, it is important to tell the truth but also be tactful. I have heard opinions of politicians and I think that they may be thinking AFTER they speak. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Hi Judith,
Good post-and that is my honest opinion!
Hope you are enjoying yourselves down in the sunny south.
Those macaroons look very pretty-I might have to try making them too.

Have a lovely weekend,

Henry David Thoreau. Love the quote. I read 'Walden' this winter, and enjoyed it so much.

Hope you have a great weekend, Judith!

The older I get, the more careful I am about offering an opinion, when asked - unless by those very close to me.

I love that quote, Judith.

I have learned over many years and many tears that opinions aren't wanted unless someone asks...and even then...they probably still aren't really.

Thanks for a thoughtful and thought provoking link to the letter "O".
