Holiday Sparkle

We're coming closer to the time of holiday sparkle and chandeliers cast their glow with elegance.
The one on the top right I liked because of the green prisms and the other three are from Dundurn castle  (Ontario, Canada) when I visited a couple of years ago.  The bottom right has real candles and oranges hanging from it.
Chandeliers with burning candles were quite the fire hazard as we found out 40 years ago when a friend got married.  The reception was held at the very old family homestead and when my friend leaned over to cut the wedding cake, her hair caught on fire - nothing dramatic but singed hair on your wedding day is something you never forget.  Oh yes, and laugh about years down the road!
I'm linking with Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.

  1. Candle Chandeliers are lovely but I wouldn't have one for the exact reasons you mention. Just too dangerous, but they are lovely and romantic.

  2. A lovely mosaic today Judith. I remember the chandelier in Dundurn Castle. So scary to have your hair caught on fire. Valerie

  10. Lots of sparkling pretties for the holidays. I love chandeliers. But I'll take the electric ones over the candles - because of safety.

  17. Love the beautiful chandeliers! There's nothing like Holiday Sparkle to warm the heart. I love this time of year.
Glad to know that your friend's wedding was still joyous. It sounds like she was a "hot" bride. LOL...how terrible for her, but if you can find humor in the situation, she is better off for it. I'm glad that she is OK.
    Happy Mosaic Monday!

  19. Hello Judith,
What wonderful chandies. Imagine getting your hair singed on your wedding day; oh my! What a memory that would make.
I'm gradually adding some sparkle to my home but it's slow going.
I missed you at tea today. Hope all is OK with you. Just thinking of you; enjoy the rest of your day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
