Spring Tea

Welcome spring and to friends for tea.  Today is a special spring party hosted by Sandi from Rose Chintz Cottage and also a celebration of the loveliness of life hosted by Kathy at A Delightsome Life.
I'm so glad you've here and hope you will visit my two hosts.

Spring is a season to celebrate as the days become longer and brighter and it's also a sensuous time of renewal and rebirth.  Flowering bulbs push through melting snow and leaves from autumn, followed closely by perennials reaching for the sun.  Trees are alive with swelling buds and the music from birds declaring territories and attracting mates.  It's a time of year to be thankful for all the beauty around us.
Flowering ornamental crab apple
Magnolia 'Leonard Messel'
Crimson red rhubarb
The insects become busy collecting pollen and nectar.
Robins are a harbinger of spring and it's not long before their babies can be seen teetering on branches and fences.
I'm using a colourful teacup today from Gracie Bone China.
And my Marjolein Bastien teapot as shown from a previous post
I just bought this beehive drink dispenser which would be nice with some lavender lemonade.
I had fun making some pretty sugar cookies for our tea today.  The tablecloth seen a bit in this photo and others is covered with spring daffodils.
A few egg shaped candies.
Bee napkin ring with a dainty linen napkin.
A birdcage with a golden butterfly resting on the side.
A few white birds gathered together. (candy dish, creamer, salt & pepper)
There are no fresh flowers on the table as I'm using these tulips...that are in fact a gift box I once received with goodies inside .
What would spring be without a few bunnies and a watering can?  The card is a special one from a friend that knows how much I like butterflies.
Spring Song
"Hark, I hear a robin calling!
List, the wind is from the south!
And the orchard-bloom is falling
Sweet as kisses on the mouth.

In the dreamy vale of beeches
Fair and faint is woven mist,
And the river's orient reaches
Are the palest amethyst.

Every limpid brook is singing
Of the lure of April days;
Every piney glen is ringing
With the maddest roundelays.

Come and let us seek together
Springtime lore of daffodils,
Giving to the golden weather
Greeting on the sun-warm hills."
