Reflections of 2010

2010 was a busy year at Lavender Cottage.  My husband retired the end of January..........
which left him free to tackle a large 'honey do' list.  And he did.
But, before the work began, we spent almost 2 weeks in Florida with our youngest daughter and family having a great old time.
We went on a pirate ship cruise where we all dressed like pirates and the little mateys like our grandson Sam here, soaked the adults with their water pistols.
In the spring, more grass was removed from the backyard by putting a layer of newspaper to smother it and then soil or pea gravel right on top.  This method works really well and saves a lot of work.
The indoor renovations began with ripping out all the carpet and laying hardwood flooring which Glenn did himself with some help from our son-in-law.  The kitchen counter top and back splash were selected at Lowes and they had their workers install for us.  Glenn added under cabinet lights, a bookshelf for my cookbooks and painted the tea cupboard.  Whew!  Is he ever glad he's finished.
Of course the icing on the cake this year was our much anticipated cruise to Alaska with a day in Victoria first to visit the famous Butchart Gardens.  You can hear another person's story about being there and look at pictures, but being at Butchart in the flesh to see the beauty with your own eyes is a fantastic experience.
And, lastly this year I met some really nice bloggers, and it is the friendship that develops between us that makes it a pleasurable pastime.  I appreciate everyone that visits to read what I have to share.
I started participating in weekly tea parties this year too and for a passionate tea granny, it has been a lot of fun.
Thank you for enriching my life and I wish you all a healthy, happy new year.
