Friday's Favourite - Peacocks

I volunteer at our community arboretum (basically a tree garden that is a heritage for future residents and a place for passive recreation and education) that is 9 acres.  Many times I've heard the call of the male peacock from the next property but have never seen him or the peahens until now.

I wonder if he's young because there are no display feathers dragging behind him or maybe he and his harem have been clipped so they can't fly?

Neverthless, he's still a majestic looking bird.  Oh yes, they can run pretty fast too as I found out trying to photograph them.
I can't tell you how many times I've had my Canon with the long lens on with me at the arboretum to try and capture the peacocks and the one time I've only got my point and shoot, there they are!  Murphy's Law.
I'm linking to Claudia at Dipty Road for her Friday - Finding Beauty meme.

  6. They are amazing birds, aren't they? And nicely photographed! I would think he's probably young, since those aren't the feathers they clip. It's the flight feathers on the wings that have to be cut to stop a bird flying.

You live in a beautiful area of North America! It's so similar to the Northwest in many ways.
