Friday's Favourite - Lilacs

Lilac 'Miss Kim'

When I am at my kitchen sink these days, the fragrant scent of lilacs is just remarkable.  Two dwarf varieties 'Miss Kim' and 'Palliban' planted below the window are responsible for this pleasure.

When the common wild  lilacs are in full bloom my husband and I take a drive along country roads to gather enough for a bouquet in the house.

In the butterfly garden out front is 'Josee' that flowers heavily in spring and sporadically throughout the summer.

  4. hi there,

i'm from malaysia. it's so good to see that your lilac bush is blooming now.i never smell it but i'm wondering how does it smell actually...i wish i could smell them from here ;( I think here the climate is not suitable for lilacs that's why there's no lilacs can be found here.. so sad!

  6. The white lilacs are gorgeous.....I have planted 2 lilac bushes this year. One at my business and one at home in the yard. I can't wait until I can cut fresh lilacs and bring them inside to display! Have a great weekend.

  7. Your lilacs are so beautiful. I have several bushes in my yard, but not a white one. I just love the scent of them. I wished they lasted longer.

  9. How marvelous to have these outside your window, Judith! I have only one lilac bush so I admit that I seek out bushes in neglected or vacant lots to take cuttings to photograph. They grow abundantly here, as I imagine they do in your area, too. Have a lovely Sunday. Georgianna
