Friday's Favourite - Alliums

It's plain to see why alliums would be one of my favourite spring flowering bulbs.  A member of the onion family, they come in many different sizes and colours.  The blue drumstick is a short variety that when massed throughout a garden bed looks amazing.
When the flowers are spent you are left with the globe-shaped seedhead which some gardeners like to spray paint for continued colour for the rest of the season.

  1. I love alliums in the garden too. My drumstick alliums aren't budding yet.

  2. I have one lowly allium ready to bloom, from the original 5 planted. There are many babies...Do I have the patience to wait for them to mature and flower, not likely, I will just buy new ones come fall. Have a wonderful weekend:)
