Winter Preparation of the Garden

Today I worked out in the garden since it wasn't so cold and the sun was shining. Some winter preparation was in order so I cut back the hostas, daylilies and other perennials that were all brown or on their way to becoming a mushy mass.
The purple cone flowers still had lots of lower buds so I pruned them down to these which should flower soon and revive the garden.

Wooly bears (caterpillar of the Isabella tiger moth) were curled up or stretched out in a number of places.

There were many ladybugs, large and small amongst the plants and this one was sunning itself on one of the birdbaths.
